Wild About Wednesday

Today is Wednesday and it is our very first Early Release day.  We are excited about going home early from school.  Mrs. Deaton and Mrs. Feller have meetings after we go home today.  This week we are talking about the season of Fall.  We know that another name for Fall is Autumn.  Wow, we are smart kids!  Here are some things we know about fall...

"Fall is when we can play basketball and football." Carolina

"Fall is when I play soccer and when we rake the leaves into a big pile." Casey

We are making a fall tree during work centers.  Also, in work centers we are making a scarecrow that is made out of shapes.  The scarecrow's hat is a triangle and the head is a circle.  Another work center we are doing is a happy house.  We know that "happy" and "house" starts with Harry Hatman's sound! The happy house is made from shapes too.  The last work center is a picture sort.  We color our pictures and glue them under the right sound.

In math this week, we are still talking about our numbers.  We practice counting and writing our numbers every day. We are also working with our ten frames and counters. We are doing something new this week.  After we do math on the rug, we get to do math centers.  We have been rolling dice, writing numbers, putting numbers in order and matching numbers to sets of apples.  Math centers are super fun!!

Every single day we go to Letterland.  Today, we rode on rocket ships to get to Letterland.  We have been meeting some really awesome Letterlanders.  Today, we met Sammy Snake and Talking Tess. Yesterday, we met Red Robot and Quarrelsome Queen.  Going to Letterland is one of our very favorite things we do during the day.

Another one of our favorite things to do is to go outside on the playground.  We have fun playing with our friends outside.

We have been working really hard during Daily 5 this week.  We have been practicing building our stamina while we read books to ourself. Guess what!!! We read for 19 minutes yesterday!!  Mrs. Deaton said that as soon as we get to 20 minutes, she will do a cartwheel on the rug.  That is going to be so silly.  We really are going to try to get 20 minutes tomorrow so she will do a cartwheel for us. Also, we want to beat Mrs. Webb's class because they have challenged us.  They only have 18 minutes now so we are winning!  Yay for our class!

In Journal Writing, we have been writing about the season of Fall.  We are getting really good at drawing fall trees.  Also, we are practicing our sight words so we know how to write sentences.  Can you tell that we are SO smart? We are!!!

This week is a lot of fun for us all!! Ian is not here today because he had to go to the hospital yesterday. His mommy said he got to come home from the hospital in the middle of the night but he is still very sick. We miss Ian so much and hope he gets to feeling better very soon!
