Shaving Cream Writing!!

Today has been a very fun Friday!!  We got to draw pictures and write words with shaving cream.  It was a lot of fun!  First, Mrs. Deaton had us sit in our chairs at our tables.  If we had long sleeves on, we had to roll them up.  Then, we had to put our hands in our laps.  Mrs. Deaton walked around the room and squirted a little bit of shaving cream on everyone's table.  When she said "go", we got to spread it out like a piece of paper.  Mrs. Deaton called out words for us to write with our fingers in the shaving cream.  One word we wrote was "like".  After we practiced some sight words, Mrs. Deaton let us draw pictures.  We drew snowmen, sunshines, people and dogs.  This activity was really silly and a lot of fun!  After we made a huge mess, we had to wash our hands and clean the tables.  Everyone worked together like a team to clean up.  We wiped the tables together and cleaned the room!

This week was a lot of fun and we learned a lot of cool things. In Math, we worked on making teen numbers on our ten frames. In Letterland, we practiced blending sounds to make words. This week, we also talked about different kinds of weather.  Yesterday, we learned all about the water cycle. We read a book, watched a BrainpopJr. video and researched the water cycle on the Internet. It was cool because we got to learn all about water evaporating and then coming down from the clouds.  We are some smart kids in Kindergarten!!

January was Justice/Fairness Month!  Congratulations to our Students of the Month in our classroom... Brayson, Ian, Allison and Brenden!

We are a little late, but Happy Birthday to Casey!  Her birthday was January 12th! Casey's mom brought us yummy cupcakes to eat during lunch.  We had fun celebrating her 6th birthday!

Another awesome part of our Friday was when get got to play in Free Centers.  We love to play with our friends and play with the toys in our classroom.  We are learning how to work together and be nice to each other.  Even when we get upset and mad at another friend, we need to work it out with a kind heart.  We are practicing being kind and nice all of the time.  Mrs. Deaton is proud of how well we work together and play nicely during Free Centers.

Snowball Fight!!

After a wonderful break from school, we were all happy to be back together to learn and play! We began learning all about Winter and the fun things associated with it.  We talked about building snowmen and sledding down hills.  Now all we need is some snow!!

One of our favorite things we did this week was have a snowball fight in our classroom!  We read a book about snowfall fights and had one together in school.  Our snowballs were made up of paper with sight words written on them.  After throwing snowballs at each other, we had to read our sight words aloud to the class.  This game was so much fun!

We celebrated Brayson's birthday this week because we missed it over Christmas break.  Happy 6th birthday to Brayson!

We are so excited because we got a new student this week!  His name is Muhammad and he is from Ohio. Muhammad is a great addition to our classroom!

Even though we are super happy that Muhammad is here with us, we are sad to lose another one of our classmates.  Saatvik's last day was Friday because he is moving to Pennsylvania with his family. We will miss Saatvik very much!

Here are some other pictures of us working hard this week!! The second quarter of school is almost over so Mrs. Deaton is testing us on all of our skills.  She thinks we are SO smart and she is so proud of how well we are doing.  We love school so much!

A note from Mrs. Deaton:
I wanted to take a minute to share some exciting news with you. My husband, Grant, and I are expecting our third child at the end of May.  We found out that we are having another little boy! We are due May 31 so it is at the very end of the school year.  Please know that I will continue to take great care of your children and will help them reach their fullest potential in Kindergarten.  I care deeply about my students and will not let my pregnancy interfere with their success.

Here is the reveal video we took when my family found out we were expecting a little boy. :)
