We have been working really hard in school since we got back from Christmas break. This morning when we came into school we did our morning work. We had to unscramble sight words and write down the right word. After morning work we gather at the carpet to do math. We drew our shapes using Sand draw on the iPad. Mrs. Deaton would describe a shape and then we had to draw the right shape. Then, we got in partners and talked to our group about how we knew the shape we drew was the right one. We had to tell our partner how we knew what we drew was a square.
"I know it's a square because it has four sides, four angles and four corners. The four sides are the same length." Tenley
We then went to our math center. We are practicing numbers, counting and using pattern block shapes in math centers this week.
"You have to pick a snowman first. Then, you write the number on your snowman and color him the right color. Then, you color the ten frames the right number that is on the snowman." Holden
After math, we go to Specials. Today, we went to Makerspace and played with legos. It was fun! After Specials we had snack and got to play on the iPads for recess time. It was too wet to go outside to the playground. When Mrs. Deaton got back from her meeting, we cleaned up and got ready for Daily 5.
"Today, in Daily 5, I went to writing with Mrs. Feller. I wrote about Power Rangers." Ahmir.
"In Daily 5, I did Raz-Kids on the iPad. I also went to Book Club with Mrs. Deaton. We read a book and wrote about the book." Leia
"In Book Club, we read a book about where animals like to play. Then we wrote about why the author wrote the story." Bryant
After Daily 5, we go to lunch. We all love going to lunch! When we got back from lunch, we wrote in our journals. We wrote about what we got for Christmas.

The next thing we did was Work Centers. Work Centers are fun this week. They are all about snowmen, snow people and playing in the snow. We are sewing a white mitten and putting animals in the mitten. This goes along with the story we read yesterday called "The Mitten". We can use the animals to retell the story at home with our families!
