Community Helpers

We enjoyed talking about Community Helpers this week in school.  We learned about many different jobs that help our community and how they are alike and different.  The students had the opportunity to bring in an item and talk about their parent's jobs.  Everyone really enjoyed sitting in the teacher's chair to talk to the class about their parent's jobs.  Here's what we had to say...

Bryant
"My dad works for Lowes as a Designer.  He used to work for Kobalt.  My mom works at home because I have three little brothers."

Read Across America Week

We had a lot of fun during Read Across America Week!!

On Monday, we did not do anything crazy because it was Spring Picture day.  We did read a lot of cool things about Dr. Seuss, though. We read some of his books as well.

"Dr. Seuss was a really good writer.  He wrote Green Eggs and Ham" Holden
"He wrote kid books." Patrick
"Dr. Seuss changed his name and used a pen name.  In some of his books he used Dr. Seuss but in others he used Theo Lesieg." Tenley
"He was also a great illustrator.  That means he drew the pictures." Olivia
"His dad wanted him to be a doctor but he wanted to be an author." Treasure
"Dr. Seuss wrote the Cat in the Hat book" Maddie M.

On Tuesday, we wore silly socks to school.  Mrs. Deaton let us take our shoes off and walk around in our silly socks.  That was really fun!  We read the book "Fox in Socks". It was a tongue twister!

On Tuesday, we also had some awesome guest readers come to our classroom.  The principal of Mooresville Middle School came to read to us.  She was a great reader!  Another man also came.  We really enjoyed having guest readers!

On Wednesday, we had Tacky Day at our school.  We all dressed Wacky Tacky for Wednesday!  We looked so silly, even Mrs. Deaton and Mrs. Feller!  We think Mrs. Feller was the funniest one!

On Thursday, we dressed in Red, White and Black.  It was Dr. Seuss's birthday so we dressed like the Cat in the Hat.

Read Across America week was AWESOME!!
