Staggered Start

We started off Kindergarten with an awesome Staggered Start day for everyone!

The entire day was filled with lots of fun!  When we got to school, Mrs. Deaton and Mrs. Feller painted our hands for a handprint puzzle.  Then, Mrs. Deaton read us a story called "Pete the Cat Rockin' in my School Shoes". When the story was over, a special note fell out of our book.  We couldn't believe it but Pete the Cat jumped out of our book and ran around our school.  We had to go find him! We looked in the library, the lunchroom, the gym, the computer room, the music room and the art room.  Everywhere we went, Pete left us a note. Finally, we ended up back in our classroom.  Pete left us all a delicious snack.

Later, we got to make Pete the Cat and play dough.  Both of them were a lot of fun to do. Another thing we did during our first day was go outside on the playground.  Mrs. Feller taught us all about the playground rules and then she let us play.  One rule is that we cannot go on the monkey bars.  Mrs. Feller doesn't want us to get hurt.  Playing outside was so much fun!

We went to Specials and met a lot of our teachers.  We can't wait to go to Art, Media, Music, P.E. and Guidance.  These are a few of the Specials we will have this year!

Mrs. Deaton taught us all about the rules in our classroom.  She also worked with us on some teacher games.  We had to tell her about our letters, numbers, shapes and colors.  Mrs. Deaton thinks that we are really smart kids!

Lunch time was a lot of fun for us. When the lights are off, we have to be quiet.  We get to talk quietly when the lights come on. We had fun talking to our new friends at lunch.

At the end of the day we got to play in free centers.  Mrs. Deaton explained all the rules and then she let us play for a while.  We loved all of the toys in our classroom.

We took some pictures in the hallway.  We got to pretend that we were in the middle of a picture frame.  It was so silly.

Our first day of Kindergarten was GREAT!! We know this is going to be a wonderful year in school!
