Staggered Start

We had such an awesome time during Staggered Start week in Kindergarten.  We did a lot of fun things and learned all about our new school.

Even though some of us were scared to come to big school, we had such a good time.  When we got to school, Mrs. Deaton painted our hands for a handprint puzzle.  Then, she read us a story called "Pete the Cat Rockin' in my School Shoes". When the story was over, a special note fell out of our book.  We couldn't believe it but Pete the Cat jumped out of our book and ran around our school.  We had to go find him! We looked in the library, the lunchroom, the gym, the computer room, the music room and the art room.  Everywhere we went, Pete just left us a note. Finally, we ended up back in our classroom.  Pete left us all a delicious snack of cookies and juice. Later, we got to make Pete the Cat and Play Dough.  Both of them were a lot of fun to do.

Another thing we did during our first day was go outside on the playground.  Mrs. Feller taught us all about the playground rules and then she let us play.  One rule is that we cannot go on the monkey bars.  Mrs. Feller doesn't want us to get hurt.  Playing outside was so much fun!

Mrs. Deaton worked with us on some teacher games.  We had to tell her about our letters, numbers, shapes and colors.  Mrs. Deaton thinks that we are really smart kids!

Lunch time was a lot of fun for us.  We got to eat while we listened to music.  When the music is on, we have to be quiet.  We get to talk quietly when the music goes off.  The songs were really good.

At the end of the day we got to play in free centers.  Mrs. Deaton explained all the rules and then she let us play for a while.  We loved all of the toys in our classroom.

We took some pictures in the hallway.  We got to pretend that we were in the middle of a picture frame.  It was so silly.

Our first day of Kindergarten was GREAT!! We know this is going to be a wonderful year in school!
