Wonderful Wednesday!!

The last few days have been wonderful.  Today was the best day for Caroline because today is her birthday. We had a little different schedule today because Mrs. Deaton had to go to a long meeting with the principal and the other Kindergarten teachers this morning.  When we got to school, we started off by doing our morning work.

We did not get to do calendar on the SmartBoard because Mrs. Deaton had her computer with her.  Instead, we did an old fashion calendar with Mrs. Feller.  She did calendar on the wall.  After calendar, we did not do work centers.  This was different too.  We did Daily 5.  Some kids did iStation.  Some kids Read to Self.  Some kids did Working with Words. Other kids got to go in the hall with Jace and Logan's mom to practice letter sounds.  They got to play on Mrs. Deaton's iPad.  Here are some pictures from Daily 5 yesterday and today:

Today in Specials, we talked about tattling.  We should not tattle unless someone is being hurt. Mrs. Rollins made us a tattle monster to use.  We can tell the tattle monster anything we want.  We only tell the teacher if someone is being hurt.

After Specials, we had a small birthday party for Caroline.  Her mom brought cupcakes with rings in them.  We got to eat the cupcakes and keep the rings.  Yeah!!

Mrs. Deaton came back to the room and we got to do Work Centers.  One group made an apple hat by putting the apples in order from 0-10.  Another group made a moose for the story "If You Give a Moose a Muffin".  Jarett's group colored apple trees and glued the right number of apples on the trees. Akshay's group made apple trees for all different seasons.  Adam's group sorted Mm and Nn pictures and glued them on their paper.

We know all about the letters Mm and Nn.  They are NOSE LETTERS!! If you squeeze your nose, the sound stops.  We think that is so cool.  Try it out at home!!

After lunch we usually go outside for recess.  We couldn't go outside today because it was too wet.  We stayed inside for indoor recess instead.  We did a High Five video which was really fun.

The last thing we did today was math.  We practiced writing our numbers 0-7.  We learned the poems for numbers 6 and 7.  Here they are:
"Make a C, then in you go.  That's how you make a 6 you know."
"Across the sky and down from heaven.  That's the way to make a 7."

Math centers were a lot of fun.  We worked on counting, shapes and sorting things.

We think Kindergarten is so much fun.  We love our friends and have a silly class.

Super Thursday!

Today was really fun. The first thing we did was morning work. We had to rainbow color the number 8. After morning work and the pledge, we come to the carpet for Calendar.

After Calendar, we go back to our seats for Work Centers. We know the rules of Work Centers. We have to do our best work. Our voice level has to be O or 1. That means we can whisper. If we have a question, we have to raise our hands.  When we are finished with our work, we have to put our head down on the table.  Then, the teachers will check our work.

Our Special today was Music.  In Music, we played the drums. We sang a song in English, Spanish and French. Some of us thought the song was easy to sing but some other people thought it was difficult.

After Music and snack, we came back to the carpet for Fundations and Daily 5. We got to write on our dry erase boards and play with the letter laptops. We practiced our letters Tt, Bb, and Ff. Yesterday was a very crazy day. Since we read for 15 minutes, Mrs. Deaton did a cartwheel on the rug.  It was awesome, super and silly.  Today, we got 17 minutes. We are building our stamina!!

After lunch we went to recess.  Some of the girls picked flowers during recess. Gigi and Mrs. Feller sang the monkey song. We had a great time playing on the playground. After recess, we came back inside to write in our journals.  Today we wrote about something we like.

The very last thing we did today was math. We got to sing the chicken counting song.  It was silly. We also did math centers.

Today was a great day but we are very excited about tomorrow.  Tomorrow is Free Center Friday!! Yayyyy!! We can't wait!!
