Working hard in Kindergarten!

Wow! What a busy few weeks we have had in Kindergarten! We have learned the digraphs "th", "sh" and "ch", practiced building words in the -op word family and worked hard on all of our sight words.  During Daily 5, we have been reading higher level books with Mrs. Deaton.  We work really hard on iStation on our iPads, too!  We do a great job on our writing when we are in Mrs. Feller's group!

During Work Centers, we have been learning a lot of awesome things about weather.  We sequenced the water cycle and talked about how weather affects our lives. Mrs. Brown (our student teacher) has been teaching us during this part of the day.  We love Mrs. Brown and think she is a great teacher!

We wrote about what we like to do on a snowy day!
We learned all about groundhogs and made predictions about whether or not the groundhog would see his shadow.  We were disappointed to see that Phil saw his shadow. We are ready for Spring!

In math, we have been learning about "part, part, whole"!  We know how to build the number 5 with two different parts.  We have worked really hard on breaking numbers into parts.

We made bracelets to help us break the number 5 into two parts.

Dr. Cottone and Mrs. Sharpe gave out brag tags this week!  We were so excited to get our brag tags for reading and math!  Some of us even got a brag tag for completing the Winter Challenge over Christmas break.  Mrs. Deaton, Mrs. Feller and Mrs. Brown are so proud of us all!

Perfect Attendance!!

Reading Award (I grew a reading level this quarter!!)

Math Award

Most Improved Reading Award (Jeremiah)

Most Improved Math Award (Austin)

We completed the Winter Challenge!

We got to do something really awesome at the end of this week!  Guess what!  We got to Skype with a real author!  Amy Sklansky is a children's book author and has written some really awesome books.  Mrs. Loden's and Mrs. Deaton's class got to Skype with her and ask her questions about her books. She answered our questions and even read some of her books to us.  We really loved meeting a real live author!

Free Centers are so much fun in our classroom! We get to go to free centers every single Friday and for recess when it is rainy outside.  We love hanging out with our friends!!
