Farm and More!!

Kindergarten has been a busy place this week.  We are having an awesome week learning lots of new things.  During our Morning Meeting, we have been practicing greeting each other with a handshake and a "good morning".  We know how to look at each other in the eyes when we greet each other.

We have been talking about the Farm and all the animals that live on the Farm this week.  We watched a cool video on Discovery Education about life on a farm.  We learned some interesting facts that we didn't know before... such as a football is made from pig's skin. In Work Centers, we are making farm animals, writing in a farm book, designing our own farm scene and sorting things we find on the farm.  During Journal Writing we have been drawing and writing about different farm animals.  We are all really good at drawing a cow!

During math, we are still talking about numbers 0-10.  We are also talking about our shapes.  We are learning how to name the shapes and describe what they look like.  We know that a square and a rectangle both have four sides, four corners and four angles.  A rectangle has two long sides and two short sides but a square has all the sides the same length.  We are getting smarter by the day! It has been really fun to use Chatterpix on our ipads to make a shape come to life.  We all think it's really silly!  Check out our Seesaw accounts to see our great work!

In our math centers, we are putting scarecrows in order on a sentence strip from 1-10.  We are also matching the correct number of pigs to the number on our paper to make a cute little booklet.  Mrs. Feller's math group is using QR codes to help us learn our numbers and Mrs. Deaton's group is working on our shapes.

Today, we talked about positional words.  We got to practice with the words beside, in front of, behind, over, under, above and below. Mrs. Deaton let us be silly and get under the tables, on top of the tables, and above the chairs. We also got to be beside our friends.  It was awesome!

Mrs. Deaton let us play a fun game this week called "Snowball Fight".  We get to run around and throw sponges at each other.  When the music stops, we have to freeze with one sponge in our hand. Then, Mrs. Deaton tells us how to group ourselves.  Sometimes, we get in groups by color. Sometimes, we find our matching letter to find our partner.  Snowball Fight is a really exciting game to play in school!!

We are still working very hard during Daily 5. We are practicing our sight words, letters, writing and reading.  Mrs. Deaton and Mrs. Feller are so proud of our hard work!!

Kindergarten is the BEST! We love school!
