Discovery Place Kids Field Trip

Yesterday was a great day for our class.  We got to go on a field trip to Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville.  When we got to school in the morning, we put on our lime green class t-shirts.  Then, Mrs. Deaton told us whose groups we would be in for the day.  We loaded up the bus and headed to Discovery Place Kids.  It took us a little while to get there.  We were so excited on the bus because we were happy about our field trip.  The bus driver told us to sit with our backs on the seat and our hands in our laps.  We got to talk quietly the whole way.  We also go to eat a snack on the way. Yum!! When we got to Discovery Place, we unloaded the bus and got in a straight line.  A lot of parents were there to help chaperone our trip.  After the teachers signed in, we went into the building.  Even though we all had small groups with a chaperone, we got to stay together as a class.  We went from station to station playing with everything.

We started at the water area.  There was a cool motor boat, a train table, a water table and a car to fix.  We had an awesome time at this area!

Then, we went to another area. We got to pretend to drive a race car at this area.  We also played with legos, blocks, squishy rocks and a brick machine.  We had to turn the wheel to get the bricks to go up the machine.  The bricks actually went upstairs.

When we left this area, we went to the crafts and the underwater area.  This was really cool.   Some of us colored, painted and played with foam in the art area.  Some of us played in the submarine, the pirate ship and other cool stuff in the underwater area.

When we left there, we went to the fire truck, vet, ambulance and bank.  A lot of people dressed up like a firefighter.  Some of the kids climbed all the way to the top of the fire pole.

Upstairs was the next place we went.  It was awesome upstairs.  We got to build cars and race them, race balls down a ramp, build with legos, play with the brick machine and play with the airplane.  We stayed upstairs for a long time until the downstairs was a little less crowded.  Then, we headed back downstairs.

Mrs. Deaton split the class up when we got back downstairs.  The boys went to the grocery store and farm first while the girls went to the playground area first.  After a little while, we switched.  This was a lot of fun!

We didn't have time to go play on the stage or in the restaurant. Maybe our parents will take us back to Discovery Place Kids sometime so we can play in those areas.  We hope so!

After we left, the bus brought us back to the school. Two of our classmates went home with their moms.  It was cold and rainy so we couldn't go to the park like we wanted to.  School was fun, though!  We had a picnic lunch in the classroom and watched a movie together.

Overall, it was one of the BEST days in school so far.  We love field trips!
