Read Across America!!

Last week we celebrated Read Across America week.  We talked about Dr. Seuss and learned a lot of great things about his books.  We learned his real name and the name he uses when he writes and illustrates his stories. Here are some other fun things we did throughout the week:

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by wearing the colors red, black and white. We also made Cat in the Hat hats to wear all day long!

We had hat day and got to wear any hat that we wanted.  If we wanted to wear a hat, we had to bring $1.00.  The money that our school collected went to the American Heart Association.

We got to wear our silly socks to school one day.  We all got to take our shoes off and walk around the classroom in our silly socks.  It was a lot of fun! We also had tacky day (Mrs. Deaton forgot to take pictures...oops).  We dressed very tacky and read Tacky the Penguin together.

Throughout the week we had some awesome mystery readers come read to us in our classroom. We got clues and had to guess who the mystery readers were.  Then, they surprised us and read to us! We really enjoyed hearing some great stories from our family members who were our mystery readers.  We even had a special guest reader... the Cat in the Hat!  Thank you so much to everyone who read to us last week.

We definitely had a really great week together in Kindergarten!
