We are having such an awesome time in Kindergarten because it is Read Across America week! We are learning about Dr. Seuss because his birthday is March 2nd.... this coming Saturday! Yesterday, we got to wear hats if we paid a dollar to the American Red Cross. Today, we wore silly socks. Mrs. Deaton let us take our shoes off for most of the day so everyone could see our silly socks. It was so much fun!
Here are some cool things we know about Dr. Seuss:
"He write words and draws the pictures in some of his books." Paulina
"Dr. Seuss is just his pen name." Nick
"His real name is Theodore Geisel." Selena
"He writes really funny books for kids." Aaron
"Sometimes, he uses his last name backwards (LeSieg)." Gracie
Today is Kamila's 6th birthday. We sang to her and let her blow out some pretend candles. Her mommy sent in cupcakes for us to eat and treat bags for us to take home. Kamila's daddy sent her roses to school. How sweet!
In work centers today, we did a lot of Cat in the Hat things. Some of us made a Cat in the Hat. Some of us worked on our rhyming words and put them in a Cat in the Hat envelope. One group got to put pattern block shapes on Horton. Another group worked on matching opposite pictures. Some of us matched rhyming pictures and wrote silly sentences on green eggs. Dylan wrote this silly sentence: "The duck carries the truck." Abby wrote, "The bear is on top of the chair." Paulina said, "The spoon is in the moon." We are very silly, just like Dr. Seuss.
