October Fun!

The month of October has been awesome in our Kindergarten classroom. We have learned so much and had a really fun time in school.

We have been talking about a lot of our letters in Letterland over the past few weeks. Mm and Tt are two of the letters we learned about. We practiced writing our letters on dry erase boards and made circle maps of all the words we could think of that start with them. We even read a ton of great books about these letters.

We have been working hard in Daily 5 practicing our letters, sight words and reading. Mrs. Deaton's book club group works hard on reading books and practicing print concept skills.  Mrs. Feller's writing group has been working on writing sentences with spaces and periods.  We know how to use our sounds when writing our words.  We love when we get to use the iPads during Daily 5.  iStation Reading helps us with our reading skills and it's so much fun!  Working with Words is when we get to do fun activities to help us with our letters and words. Daily 5 is awesome!

We have talked a lot about pumpkins this week in school. We know that the life cycle of a pumpkin begins with a seed and ends with a great, big, orange pumpkin. After reading the story "Pumpkin, Pumpkin", we sequenced the life cycle together.  Then, we got to draw a jack-o-lantern face on our pumpkin.  We can't wait to carve a pumpkin soon!

In math, we have worked hard on recognizing our numbers 0-10.  We worked on different ways to make the numbers.  We know that we can make the number 5 with a 5 and 0, 1 and 4, or a 2 and 3!  We build numbers on our ten frames and write numbers on our dry erase boards. We are getting really smart with our numbers!

We love Kindergarten!
