We have been busy during Work Centers this week. One of our work centers is making our name with play dough. We have roll it like a snake to make our letters for our name. Another work center is all about our family. We draw our family on a paper and then make our head and hands to hold our family picture. A fun work center we did was decorate our first letter of our name with lots of different things. We used sequins and stickers which are so cool. We used glue sticks for two of our other centers this week. We made a shape school bus and a circle bear. Work Centers are a lot of fun!
After Work Centers we go outside to recess. Playing outside is one of our favorite things to do! We are still meeting new friends in other classes when we play on the playground. When we come back in from recess we do Daily 5. We have been building our stamina this week during Read to Self. GUESS WHAT EVERYBODY!! Today, we read for 10 minutes without getting distracted. Mrs. Deaton and Mrs. Feller think we are the smartest class in Kindergarten. We have the most minutes of anyone! After Daily 5, we get to go to Letterland. Letterland is AMAZING! This week we have met Harry Hat man, Golden Girl, Noisy Nick, Munching Mike, Lucy Lamplight, Impy Ink Kicking King and Jumping Jim.
After lunchtime, we come back into the classroom and read a story with Mrs. Deaton. This week, we have been talking about our Families. After we hear a story about our family, we write in our journals. Today, we got to write about anyone in our family that we wanted to. "I wrote about my cousin, Stella" (Olivia). "I wrote about my dog, Chewie" (Holden). "I wrote about my cousin, Arie" (Summer). "I wrote about my cousin, Kelsey" (Tenley).
After journals, we get to do Math. We have been singing a very funny chicken song in math. We also got to sing a song about numbers to 100. It's called the Big Number Song. It's cool! In math centers, we work with Mrs. Deaton on making and writing numbers. Another Math Center is using a geoboard. We make numbers and shapes with rubber bands. We got to use iPads in Math Centers this week, too! We played 123 Ninja on the iPad. The last Math Center we did was playing math games. One math game was matching numbers on clothes pins the number on the circle. Math is so much fun!
We found a spider on our window today! We looked it up on the Internet and found out that it is a Writing Spider. This is the same kind of spider that is on Charlotte's Web. However, we think the spider on our window is a boy instead of a girl. Mrs. Feller named our spider Charlie.
We missed Bryce in school this week. We are sad that he is home sick. We are going to miss Tenley in school next week. She is leaving for Disney World with her family! She is so lucky!
