Our Narrative Writing!!

We have been working hard on something new in Kindergarten this week.  We have been learning all about Narrative Writing!  Narrative Writing is when you write a story. Our class is really good at writing stories.  We want to write a Narrative Writing about our day in Kindergarten.  Here we go...

Some children ride the bus to school and some children ride in a car.  We have two children who walk to school because they live close by.  Taylor and Riley walk to school every morning.  If we ride in a car, we get dropped off at the front of the school and then have to walk in by ourselves.  We love when Mrs. Feller is outside helping us get out of our cars.  We always give her a big hug when we see her.  Today was Linkon's first day to be dropped off at the car rider line.  He was very brave and walked in all by himself for the first time!!

When we come into school, we walk to Mrs. Deaton's classroom.  We unpack our book bags by putting our folders in the two baskets.  We make our lunch choice and start our morning work at our seats.  When the bell rings, we stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then, we all gather at the carpet for Math.  We have been practicing shapes, counting and sorting by color.  We work hard in our Math Centers. Last week we worked on numbers and got to play a partner game. It was so much fun.

"We put numbers in order and made a firefighter hat." Carolina
"We count things in bags and write the number." Linkon
"We have Math Club with Mrs. Deaton. We practiced our shapes." Riley
"We have been learning about shapes." Casey
"We go on the iPads and play IXL math." Alexandra

After math, we go to Specials.
"I like to go to Music." Lydia
"In P.E., we play sports and play games." Cever
"We go to Art and color and paint." Justin

When Specials are over, we come back to the classroom to eat our snack.  We have to eat fast and go to the bathroom before our next part of the day.

The next thing we do is Daily 5.  We are working so hard to learn to read and write during Daily 5. Mrs. Deaton told us that all of our reading levels are going up.  That's because we are super smart! Letterland is the next thing we do in Kindergarten.  This is such a fun part of the day.  We have been working with Annie Apple, Clever Cat, Dippy Duck and Harry Hatman.

Lydia's mommy, Mrs. Moore, came to work with our class today.  She is so nice!

The next thing we do is go eat lunch in the cafeteria and then go outside to play.  Recess is awesome!!

When we come back inside, we are usually hot and sweaty.  We love to get some cold water before we get started on Journal Writing.  This week, we have been writing stories, just like the story we are writing right now!  This kind of writing is called Narrative Writing!

The last thing we do before we pack up to go home is Work Centers.  This is when we get to do some art projects.  We also practice with our letters and sounds.

"We have been doing firefighter trucks. We write the words 'I see a'" Destiny
"In Work Centers, we made Sparky the dog." James
"We are sorting pictures for the letters Dd and Hh." Casey
"We do the pattern block horse and dolphin." Riley

Last week, we learned about our 5 Senses.  This is our Sammy or Sally Senses that we made!

Kindergarten is very busy but it is super fun.  We love our whole day in school!

Yesterday was National Walk to School Day.  Over 100 students and teachers met at a church parking lot and then walked to school together. Four of our students in our class walked to school with Mrs. Deaton.  It was awesome.  Those four students even got a brag tag from our principal.

Brayson is gone to Disney World this week.  We really miss him!  These are some pictures he sent us.  It looks like he is having so much fun!
