Winter and Snowmen

Welcome back to our blog!  We have not written a blog since before Christmas.  Oh my!!  We are excited to get to blog again today!!

We had a great day in school.  First, we came into our classroom and unpacked our book bags.  After our morning work, we did Deskercise on the Smartboard.  It helps us make our muscles strong and our minds smart.

We got to answer a riddle today.  It was really funny.  Can you figure out our riddle? Why was 6 afraid of 7?

Then we started Daily 5.  We did 2 rounds today.  We do Daily 5 to get smarter and practice our reading and writing.  Some of us did Working with Words.  Others did istation, played on the Smartboard, worked with Mrs. Feller on writing skills and did Read to Self. Some kids got to read with Mrs. Deaton.

“I use the magnifying glass to find my words.” Dylan
“I did the magic letter.” Jacee Some of us got to read to self.
“I read a book about clowns.” Cam’Ron
“I read a book about Cinderella.” Jatzibe
“I read a book on istation.” Kamila
“I was actually practicing my letters on istation and there was a song about vowels.” Abby

After Daily 5, we went to Art.  We made penguins with Mrs. Tucker.  It was pretty fun.

We got to go to the playground for recess to play with our friends.  It was the best and really awesome.

After recess we did our Work Centers.  Since we are talking about Winter this week, our work centers are all about snowmen.
“It was fun to glue the pictures into my book.  I used my letter sounds.” Wesley
“It was hard to match my hat numbers to my snowmen.” Selena
“I wrote about what my snowman does at night.  My snowman plays on my slide.” Nick

In our journals today, we wrote about snowflakes.  “Did you know that all of the snowflakes in the world are different?  We learned that today in our book.” Levi

Finally, we did math rotations. We are working on comparing things with words like heavy, light, long, short, large, small, tall, big, medium, and little.  We have even learned the words length, height and capacity this week. We are really smart!

We love blogging and we love Kindergarten!
