Mrs. Deaton is back!!

We are getting back into the grove of school!  Mrs. Deaton is back and we are excited!  She really missed us but was happy to be at home with her two little boys, Connor and Brandon.  We are so happy she is back in Kindergarten!

Today was a great day in Kindergarten.  We started our day by doing Daily 5, which was a lot of fun.  Some of the groups got to Read to Self.  William read a book about the Cat in the Hat.  Other kids got to go to istation on the computer or to Book Club with Mrs. Deaton.  Some of us got to play Mrs. Deaton’s iPad and the Smartboard.  It was tons of fun!

We have new tubs in Working with Words.  We are practicing our sight words this week in Daily 5.  We are supposed to be practicing them at home with our families too.

Mrs. Feller has been working hard with us to make some great Christmas ornaments!

We didn’t get to go outside to recess today because it was rainy and messy.  Instead, we danced to the High Five video!

We worked hard in Work Centers today.
“I did a Christmas tree graph.” Levi
“I did a pattern block Xenopus, which is a type of frog.” Paulina
“I put stockings in order from longest to shortest.” Dylan
“I made a Santa that’s holding my name.” Myonna
“I sorted Yy and Xx words.” Nick  “Us too!” Jacee and Jazmin

We wrote about Christmas and snow in our journals today.   We wish it would snow!

Math was a lot of fun today too.  We are learning about More, Less and Equal.

What a great Monday!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving Feast!

Today we had our school Thanksgiving feast. To celebrate we put on our Pilgrim and Indian costumes. We had yellow and orange colored paper on our tables for tablecloths. We also had scarecrows, turkeys, and pumpkins as decorations. We enjoyed our meal as a family. We ate ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and turkey.

“It was awesome!,” said Levi.

“It was nice ‘cause we ate as a group,” replied Cam ‘Ron.

Paulina said, “It was fun because we dressed up as Pilgrims and Indians.”

Election Day!

Today is Joshua’s birthday! He is 6 years old! Joshua blew out his candle and we sang “Happy Birthday!”

Today is also special because it is Election Day! Election Day is a day when adults vote for President. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are running for president this year! We know that the president is elected for a term of four years.

We colored a special hat for Election Day with the colors red and blue. We used red and blue colors because they resemble America.

This morning we went to the reading room to vote for who we wanted to be president! When we got to the reading room, they gave each of us a special piece of paper. It had the names and picture of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. Each of us got to put a check mark beside who we wanted to be president. Levi thought it was fun and Kamila thought it was awesome.

“Voting was so cool.” Cecilia

“It was hard to decide who to vote for.” Paulina

“Voting was exciting because I have never gotten to vote before.” Levi

Halloween Fun!

It has been a spooky fun Halloween week!!

Tuesday we went to an assembly in the gym about natural gas! Gracie learned that some gas comes from under the ground. Levi learned that natural gas can be used for a lot of different things. The show was really funny!

Tuesday night was so special. It was FALL FAIR! There were a ton of games to play. Gracie liked the duck game and she won a few prizes. Wesley came to room 108, our room, and hit the golf ball into the hole! He won TWO prizes. Some of us saw Mrs. Deaton and Connor at Fall Fair! Some kids even dressed up for fall fair. Fall Fair was awesome!

On Wednesday we had an ice cream sundae Halloween party! We got to have the party because we filled up our popcorn jar for good classroom behavior.

“On my sundae I had chocolate chips, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup!” Kamila

“I had Halloween sprinkles on my sundae!” Dylan

“With my vanilla ice cream, I had sprinkles.” Aaron

“Gummy bears, sprinkles, M&M’s, and marshmallows were all on my sundae.” Jazmin

The party was so exciting! What a way to celebrate Halloween and good behavior!
